Trying to Solve a 'pukey' Mystery...

Things have been pretty busy since the last time I've updated. My family is healthy again, well... for the exception of Aubrey. I am still trying to figure out what's wrong with her. Ever since Sunday night she's been puking, though she doesn't look sick at all... she'll be throwing up every now and then. At first, I thought she has the tummy bug again (but she seems to do fine at some feedings), and then I think she is allergic to green beans ('cause I noticed she'd puke whenever i fed her that). But then, she'd still vomit even though I didn't feed her green beans anymore. Now, we are thinking she might be lactose-intolerant... but can an infant get lactose-intolerant later in life? Or, maybe she's allergic to rice cereal... but she's been doing good with organic rice cereal and oatmeal since she was 5 months old. *sighs* We're still trying to narrow it down, by feeding her one thing at a time and see what happens. She'll just have breastmilk for a day (hope she doesn't get too fussy 'cause I know I can't produce enough for her demands), and then, formula, the oatmeal cereal, rice cereal, star puffs... and so on. The only new thing that I have introduced lately was the Gerber star puffs. However, she's eaten it a few days ago without having problems. I really hope we can figure this one out or better yet, she'll just get better. We'll really appreciate if you can help pray that she gets better. It's just not fun having to see her puke all the time, and not know why. :(

Anyhow, on a brighter side of things... she's been crawling for a about a week now. Well, at least scoot on her belly by picking her legs and butt up and then lounge(sp?) forward. She can get around pretty quick too. I do need to keep an eye on her now. She can be on all fours too, rocks back and forth and sometimes she can get in a step or two in the crawl position. She's been doing really good progress with it too. Also, she said her first word on Saturday. She said "dada". Jeb is sooo estatic that it was his name that she said first. He is happy and proud... ;) And, among the other new things she's been doing is waving, and she'd pick her arms up to be carried. It's so cute. :)

awww... im sorry aubrey has not been feeling well :-( ill pray that she gets better.. i know its not great at all to see your little one suffer and dont know how to help alleviate it.

but, im so happy that she said her first word already and is starting to crawl! :-) i cannot wait to see aubrey :-D

Thanks for the comment, Chiye. So far, Aubrey hasn't thrown up yesterday. I was just feeding her breastmilk and formula. I'll be attempting to feed her solids again today... we'll see how that goes. But thanks for your prayers!

I cannot wait to see you too... next month, right?

That's great that Aubrey is starting to crawl now. In no time, she'll be walking. Imagine how much you'll be keeping an eye on her then smilies/wink.gif

I bet Jeb was all proud to know Aubrey's first word was, "Dada." I know, if I was in his shoes, I'd be all excited about it

I bet her second word will be, "Mama." SO don't worry, Laurie, you're right there at the top of her list too. Imagine how long you'd have to wait for her to say your name it your name was, "Kimmy"... smilies/tongue.gif

I think you are doing the right thing to eliminate foods and try reintroducing them one at a time to see if Aubry is reacting to something. You may never know, though. It is just possible that she is sick again. There is so much flu going around in this area! If you have been out and about with her she may very easily have picked it up again. As long as she seems happy I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just make sure she gets enough fluids so that she doesn't get dehydrated and keep tabs on whether she has a fever or not. Little ones are very strong and hopefully she will be over this soon.

Ruth - thank you for your comment. I verily think so too that she got sick again. The day after she was done throwing up, I notice she had very runny poops... so it might be that bug. Nasty bug. Nevertheless, she seems to be alright now... happy and content.

Kim - I think if you were the momma... your baby would have said "Mama" or "Dada" too instead of calling you by your first name :-p hehehe But still, yea... that would take almost 2 years before they could say "Kimmie" nicely.

Hi Laurie - How is Aubrey doing? Any more vomitting? Sawyer has been vomitting on an off for about three weeks now. The first time it happened we thought he had just been running around too much. A few days later when it happened again, we figured he just ate too fast or too much. A few days later when it happened again (this time for two days in a row), we thought it must be a bug. A few days later it happened again so we brought him to the doctor. Surprisingly, we found out that he has an ear infection. I guess some ear infections will cause nauseau. We didn't notice that he was pulling at his ear or anything but I do recall that he has been extra whiney the last few weeks. I feel really bad that he had the ear infection for so long and I didn't even know it. The doctor did not prescribe any antibiotics because she said it was a viral infection (as opposed to bacterial). She just recommended Tylenol. Anyway, just thought I'd let you know since the kids were together over Thanksgiving and Aubrey was showing some of the same symptoms.

I did have the ear infection as one of my "suspects" although I was also thinking that it might be because she is teething. I have been researching and reading online and said that sometimes baby's tug at their ears when they're teething (not knowing exactly where the pain is coming from). But yea, she has been tugging and scratching her ears quite a bit too when she was sick. Maybe, she did have an ear infection... dunno.

Well, she is better now... no more puking, so all's good. But she is still teething and quite fussy sometimes.
