Bunch o' Stuff

E-mail Print PDF

I'm writing my blog, Kimmy-style! :) I stuck a couple more updates below.

A New Pet

Jordan and Aubrey have a new pet -- a baby bunny!  We decided to call her (it's a she according to Jebby) Butterscotch, because of her color.  She is a pretty and cute little bunny.  You will see in the pictures (when I put it in later).  Jordan pretty much does good with her... though he is learning things that he should NOT be doing with her.  He's managed to drop her, put her in containers, under the blanket with him, let her ride their bounce-and-spin Zebra toy. ride Aubrey's bike, stuff in a boot. etc.  At one time, he told me that Butterscotch needs to be "warmed up".  And then, he proceeds to stick her in the microwave -- the kid's play kitchen's microwave.  I was debating whether I should allow him to proceed with his plan or not... Anyway, he stuck her in the play microwave and closed the door.  He pretended to push some buttons and then made the sound.  After a few seconds, he took her out and exclaimed -- "She's all warm now"!  My microwave is high enough that he can't and won't be able to reach it -- I hope!  I did give him a little talk as to why he really should not be doing that to a bunny or to any animal for that matter.  Jordan's a funny and imaginative little boy.

Feast Preparations

So far, so good.  The countdown is 12 days til the day we leave.  Jordan and Aubrey's paper chain looks soo tiny and short now compared to when we first made it.  There's just a couple more things that I need to get and do... and then the big task of packing it all up is planned for late next week.  I still need to call up our bank/CC company to let them know we will be overseas so they won't think the charges we are making on our card are fraud and block our card.  Also, we need to unlock our cellphone (or get it in roaming -- whichever), so we can still use our cellphones while in the Philippines, and lastly... I need to put a hold on our mail at our local post office for the days we are away.

Stroller Review

I was able to try out the new stroller I got for Jordan and Aubrey, and when we go to the Philippines.  So far I really like it and am quite impressed.  Features I like are: the light weight, the ease in going around corners and turning (this is a big factor for me, since me being tiny, don't necessarily want to put all my weight and effort into turning the stroller -- esp with the weight of 2 kids in it), how compact it is when you fold it (however, it it just a bit tall because of the canopy), and how easy it is to fold/unfold.  I also love the fact that Jordan can stand or sit in the back if chooses so (mostly he wants to sit for now).  The only downside I can see (but not sure yet), is because the frame is made of a lighter material, it feels a bit flimsy -- I'm sure it will not fall apart on me though.  So, overall, I am quite pleased with it.  We'll just have to see how long it will hold up with the use and abuse of the kids' use and the airport staff hauling it in and out of the airplane.

Funerals

There has been quite a few deaths and funerals lately.  A month ago, my cousin died from cancer.  This past week I learned that Amy's (Jeb's cousin) grandpa died of cancer too.  And then, just recently, a good family friend of ours, Gema (Matilac) Salvadori passed away Thursday morning from cancer as well.  The funeral service for Mrs. Salvadori is today (Sunday, at 2pm), so in a few hours from now that is where we are headed.  I am scheduled to sing for the funeral service.  The famiy requested the song, "The Lord's My Shepherd" (I'm singing the version by Crimond).  I hope that I can make it through the song without breaking down.  I am sooo bad with funerals and crying.  I am very emotional.

To all those concerned... my family's deepest love, sympathy and prayers go out to all of the individuals and their families.

I made it thru my singing just fine and thankfully I did not break down (thanks for the prayers).  I had a bit of a rough start since when they started playing my music it was so low that I barely can hear it, but then when they turned it up the rest of the song went well.  I am honored and glad that I could sing for the family and I can tell that they appreciated it too.  I got a few compliments on my singing :) (thanks to God and my parents for giving me the talent).  The funeral service (Mr Hanisko gave the service) was short and sweet -- very dignified.  We are glad to know of God's plan for all of us, that the dead are just merely sleeping in their graves awaiting for that day when the 7th trumpet shall sound and Christ will return and raise up the dead.  What a beautiful hope and promise it is for us all.

Hidden Talents

Jeb's company's largest trade show was last week (hence, he being in Illinois last week).  I just like to point out a few things from the tradeshow... Jordan's picture in the banners and Meryl's logo creation for one of their products.  This is a link to the photo gallery -- take note of pictures 14 and 15.  Picture 14, if you notice the banner above... Jordan's picture is on the top left of the picture.  Picture 15, is the logo that Meryl (Mac-Arts Multimedia Web Development) created.

Teething and my Genes

Aubrey has been teething for a few weeks now.  She's getting all her i-teeth in all at the same time.  Her upper ones are poking through a lil' bit now, and she's just working on the lower ones.  Unfortunately, she has my bad teeth-alignment genes. :(  One of her i-teeth is coming through the outer gums on the lower right.  This is causing her a bit of discomfort that she chews at everthing she sees.  Poor kid.  I don't think she is in pain, just uncomfortable at times.

A New Steak Place

Jeb and I might have found our new favorite steak place.  This new steak place we found is in Main Street -- very close to us. This place is called Theos and they have excellent steak and food.  The menu is a little on the pricey side (that's why it is just an occassional steak craving and special date night for us to go there) compared to most of the dining places here, but I think what you get is worth it.  They have big portions and the food is great.

Living in Fond du Lac is quite a challenge in finding good dining with good food.  We had a few steak / dinner places that we liked to go to when we had the occassional craving for a good steak or a nice dinner date out.  But lately, these places have gone down with their quality of food that we stopped going there.  One of the places that we used to love going to is now even closed.  It is too bad, since that place had potential and we loved the service and food there when they just opened up, but when they changed management, everything went downhill from there until it ultimately closed.

Kelley, if you and Jason want to go out for a date... try out that place and drop off Sophia here so you two can have a quality time together. :)

Downside to Cooler Temperatures

One thing that I do not care about the cooler temperature is the dry air.  Because of this, I have to deal with 2 people (my hubby and Jordan) getting nose bleeds.  The sheets and pillow cases get stained and when I can't get to wash it right away, the stain won't come off.  I have ruined a few of my sheets (especially with Jordan's sheets) already with blood stains.  I just couldn't keep up to wash and change the sheets every single time Jordan gets a nose bleed.  Is there a magic solution to get rid of blood stains?  If there is, I would love to know about it!
