Philippines trip countdown

E-mail Print PDF

Jordan's Feast countdown paper chainThis morning, Jordan came running into our bedroom saying, "mommy, wake up... wake up, mommy. Daddy, wake up... wake up. You guys have to get up because it is time to go to the Philippines!" He sure was super excited this morning urging us to get ready to go to the Philippines. We told him, it will be a few weeks yet before we go to the Philippines.

So, anyway Jeb and I came up with an idea -- we'd make a "Feast calendar" for him, paper chains. So Jordan and I spent an hour of our morning making a paper chain. Our countdown to our Philippines trip -- 36 days before D-Day. :) Jordan helped me tape the links together and he even made designs by stamping smiley faces on each paper. It was a fun little craft for him. Every day, when he gets up he gets to pull out one link from the chain until all the links are gone. He'll be able to see the chain get shorter and shorter... meaning us leaving gets closer and closer.

I reckon it is a good visual reminder for myself as well. I still have a ton to prepare before our trip. I just realized the other day that I haven't booked or purchased our tickets from Manila to Davao and back, yet. I have the tickets already from the US to Manila (it was cheaper getting a ticket when we broke it down like that). So, I have to make sure I get those tickets in very soon.

On to other things... the last 2-3 days have been not too great for me. Aubrey's been teething and she would constantly wake up at night. She has also been a grumpy and cranky little thing. Well, me with no decent sleep for days now + a grumpy and cranky baby = a grumpy and cranky mommy too. Aubrey has been very clingly too so I couldn't get anything done in the house -- there are dirty dishes in the sink and a messy countertop, piling laundry, toys and clothes everywhere, a floor that needs vacuuming so bad and Hexagon work. Seeing all the mess and thinking of it even made me grumpier and crankier. So, I really wasn't a very nice person this week. Just ask Jeb =P

Anyhooo... today is a much brighter and better day. Jeb felt bad for me yesterday (I was depressed), he took me and the kids to the lakeside park just to relax a bit and then took us out to dinner. It's really nice of him since he too is stressed and swamped with work and deadines. Going on, Aubrey still woke up a few times last night (while I was still awake), but after while when I went to bed, I just brought her to bed with me and she slept with us last night. Making me able to sleep too :) This morning, I tackled my kitchen and did the dishes, and cleaned off my counters. And then, I get a call from my mom-in-law that my dad-in-law was on his way here to pick up the kids. Wow, never expected that today. So, right now the kids are with their grandparents and Sophia. And I get a break. :) I plan to tackle quite a bit today having that little break from the kids.

So, that being said, I better publish this post and head on to work. Have a good week everyone. :)
